Like the other fieldbus solutions, DeviceNet is available as an integrated
option for the VLT 2800 and VLT 5000 Series. |

LONWORKS
The American company of Echelon
introduced LonWorks in 1990. It is based on the “Neuron” Chip
and originally it was intended for building process control,
sensors and actuators. However, it can be found on a multitude
of industrial application. LonWorks is a true decentralized
and independent option as it does not need a master.
Danfoss offers a LonWorks Option for both the VLT 5000
and VLT 6000 HVAC series.

MODBUS PLUS
The Modbus Plus is based on the Modbus Protocol from the
company of Modicon (AEG), Modbus and Modbus Plus can be
combined over the so-called Bridge Multiplexer.
The Modbus Plus option is available for VLT 5000

METASYS
Metasys N2 is a proprietary protocol
of Johnson Controls. However, Johnson Controls has opened
their protocol to others. The Metasys N2 protocol is
incorporated into VLT 6000 HVAC as a standard feature.
It is also possible to select the FC Protocol or FLN.
Serial communication is directly established between
the Johnson Metasys building management system and the
VLT 6000’s RS 485 port.
Metasys provides unlimited read and write capabilities
to all VLT parameters.

FLN
The FLN (Floor Level Network) protocol
is a proprietary protocol of Siemens Building Automation
Landis & Staefa
Division (previous Landis & Staefa). FLN is incorporated
as standard in the VLT 6000 HVAC. It is also possible to
select the FC protocol and Metasys N2. Serial communication
is directly established between the Landis & Staefa
System 600 building management system and the VLT 6000’s
RS 485 port. Communication capabilities are limited to
99 predetermined data points.

FC protocol (standard RS 485)
An RS 485 interface is standard on all Danfoss VLT frequency
converters. Over this interface it is possible to have
126 units in one network. The build-up of the FC protocol
is very simple and is described in the VLT frequency converter
Design Guide. If the speed of data transmission of secondary
importance the RS 485 interface is a good alternative to
the more expensive but fast fieldbus solutions.

PROFIBUS
This open, non-proprietary fieldbus standard complying
with EN 50170 has become the most idely used industrial
fieldbus concept on a world-wide basis.
All Danfoss VLT frequency converters, VLT 2800 Series, VLT 5000 Series, VLT
6000 HVAC and the VLT DriveMotor are available with PROFIBUS DP as an option
(VLT 5000 is also available with PROFIBUS FMS).

INTERBUS
This is also an open, non-proprietary standard. It complies
with the EN 50254 standard. Using the VLT 5000 fitted with
an option card, it is possible to connect directly to an
INTERBUS remote network.
